Kanchana(Muni 2) Movie Review

Story:

Raghava (Lawrence) is a cool going man and always feels happy. He stays along with his family. Raghava has a weakness, he is feared of darkness and ghosts. One day while he was playing cricket in a burial ground, accidentally he hits the stumps into the ground which hits the dead body that was under the mud. Without knowing this he carries those stumps to his home. The stumps has blood stains on them. With those stains ghosts come into his house and starts doing all scary things. Finally they settle in Raghava's body. From then onwards Raghava behaves in a peculiar manner and when they comes to know that there are three ghosts in his body. One of it is Kanchana (Sarath Kumar). Kanchana was a hijra who feels that they too should have equal rights along with the other genders. Kanchana gets killed brutally and his spirit uses Raghava to avenge his/her death. However, Kanchana takes revenge on his enemies is rest of the story.

Analysis:

The storyline of Kanchana movie is similar to that of Muni. However, the major difference in the storyline is the ghost. In Kanchana the ghost is a hijra whereas in Muni it ghost is a Mass Leader. Lawrence included sentiment in Kanchana similar to Muni with a flashback.

Performances

The Performance of Lawrence is good. But, if Lawrence role was played by any popular actor that would be much better. His emotions in Kanchana's role appeared like multiple personality disorder like acting. He tried to show some comedy with the role, which is ok. As usual his dances are good, but they are looking in routine manner.

Lakshmi Rai is limited to songs and has very less role. Even though Sarath Kumar's role is limited he has done his job well. It would have been good if he had given more screen space. Kovai Sarala and Deiva Darshini did well in their respective roles

Negative Points:

The major negative point is the director took long time to establish the character of Kanchana.Because of this the movie went 3 hours which is very long period for a horror movie. The major part of the movie is last half an hour which has some thrill rest of the movie is cool going type.

As the storyline is similar to Muni, people who have already seen Muni will feel the movie is similar to it.

Thaman's music has Tamil flavor we need to wait and see how Telugu audience takes it.

Positive Points:

The Performance of Lawrence is good. Sarath Kumar performance is very good he has done good work in sentiment scenes.

Background Music is good. Lawrence again proved as a good director. Technically, the movie is very good. The graphics used in the movie is also good. The movie has very good production values. 

Final Word: Kanchana can be watched once. You will enjoy the movie if you haven't watch Muni.
