Akshita's mother Swetha Sargunam (Amala Paul) came into Krishnan's life when she needed someone desperately. After giving birth to her she disappeared never to be seen again. For seven years Krishnan has looked after the child and both are happy together. However Swetha's father Bashyam (Nassar) comes to India for one thing: his granddaughter.
It was Akshita's birthday and Krishnan has a surprise party for her. Akshita is upset and leaves. Taking advantage of Akshita leaving her house, Bashyam gives Krishnan a court notice. He soon takes Krishnan to court. With the help of the townspeople he is introduced to Anuradha Ragunathan (Anushka), a lawyer and single mother dealing with her own problems.

Her son, Rahul, never used to listen to her. Anuradha didn't agree to fight for Krishnan's case, but when Rahul met Krishnan and became his friend, Anuradha realized that she should help Krishnan. A custody battle ensues. It is found out that Swetha was on drugs. She died because of it and she didn't return to her father or Krishnan.

When the case is nearing to Bashyam's win, Anuradha decides to marry Krishnan, after the 15 minutes recess Anuradha presents the marriage papers to the judge, and the judge declares that Akshita will be in custody of Krishnan and Anuradha, which Akshita accepts Anuradha as her mother and her son as her brother. Bashyam regrets being mean to Krishnan and accepts him as his son-in-law before flying back to London.
