Julaayi Movie Review

Story, Screenplay & Direction: Trivikram Srinivas

Producer: S. Radha Krishna / D.V.V. Danayya

Music: Devi Sri Prasad

Cinematography: Chota K. Naidu / Shyam K. Naidu

Starring: Allu Arjun, Ileana, Rajendra Prasad, Sonu Sood, Dharmavarapu, M. S. Narayana, Brahmanandam, Tanikella, Kota, Shafi, Brahmaji, Ali

RATING: 3/5

Story: Ravi (Allu Arjun), young and dynamic boy dreams big and aims to earn quick money. Ravi takes Rs Ten thousand from his father (Tanikella) promising him earning Rs One lakh in two hours leaves the house to go to a betting pub. Bittu(Sonu Sood) who also loves to earn quick money plans to loot Rs 1500 cr  from a local bank in Vizag with the help of MLA Varada Rajulu( Kota).

Ravi requests a ride and gets it from Bittu and co. who are on their way to loot the bank. Ravi quickly realizes the gang’s motto but keeps it with himself and gets down at pub. When police commissioner raids the pub, Ravi discloses them about Bittu gang plan.

Police commissioner along with Ravi locates the money truck. Realising the fact that police are behind him, Bittu brother Shafiq hides the money in dump yard before gets killed by Ravi in an effort to save the police commissioner.

Now, Bittu who was arrested by police escapes the jail and on the lookout for Ravi to take revenge. Rest of the story is all about ego clashes between Ravi and Bittu before locating the stolen money.

Performance: Allu Arjun justified his role as dynamic and intelligent young boy. Needless to say he showed his energetic dancing skills. But the role didn’t have the scope to showcase his acting skills.

Ileana is big disappointment as heroine. She is too skinny to the liking of Tollywood audience. Acting aside, glamour quotient too is missing in her role.

Sonu Sood is routine in antagonist role. Rajendra Prasad acted in a rather less prominent role. Kota, Rao Ramesh, Tanikella Bharani, Dharmavarapu, Brahmaji,Tulasi, Hema and Pragathi justified their roles.

Brahmanandam and MS Narayana are OK in comedy department. Ali and Vennela Kishore appear in “miss if you blink” roles.

Udaya Bhanu one minute dance surely fetches her more chances as item girl.

Analysis: Audience had lot of expectations on this crazy combination of Allu Arjun and Trivikram Srinivas. The movie takes off well but fails to maintain the same tempo in the second half. First half is entertaining while the second half runs on predictable note with slow pace.

We are not sure how Trivikram defends about total police department following the instructions of Allu Arjun where he is an ordinary young boy. The action sequences are so stupid and definitely don’t expect them from director like Trivikram. Too many characters with no are limited footage spoiled the movie. Though the dialogues are good, comedy from Brahmanadam and MS Narayana are bit disappointing. Trivikram failed to utilize the glamor of Ileana, not even in songs. Allu Arjun charecterisation is one dimensional and lacks different shades. Lack of drama may also hamper the chances of family audience turn out to the movie.

Final Verdict: On the whole, the movie appeals to those who like Trivikram mark comedy. Watch this Julaayi Once.

Eega Moview Review

Banner: Varahi Chalana Chitra (Telugu), Suresh Productions (Presesnts)

Produced: Sai Korrapati (Telugu)

Directed: SS. Rajamouli

Music: M. M. Keeravani

Starring: Nani,Sudeep,Samantha

Rating: 3.45/5

Story

Sudeep (Sudeep) CEO of Sudeep Constructions is a womanizer who eyes Bindu (Samantha) when she meets her seeking donation for her social service through miniature art. In the process he kills Nani (Nani) who loves Bindu, but Bindu never reciprocates though she admires her secretly in her heart. Prior to his death Nani vows to exact revenge on who ever eyes Bindu. How Nani exacts revenge forms the climax of ‘Eega’.

Performances

Nani excelled as lover boy with helpful nature and his ease at comedy and romantic expressions liven the first half. Sudeep expressed himself as the possessive lover and construction company owner. Samantha’s performance is the highlight for the film as she spellbound as Nani’s secret admirer in the first half and a lover who lost her dear one. However the emperor of the film is Rajamouli, who with his Eega made every one dance to his tunes. While Eega romanced Samantha, it scared Sudeep and spellbound all with its unique ways of seeking revenge and also with its sensational dancing movements.

Analysis

Rajamouli at the start of the film itself through small kid sends message that all stories are routine and is coming with unique story on Eega. Though many films in tollywood came earlier with animals like elephants, dogs, snakes, birds, monkeys seeking revenge, revenge by Eega is something new and this is where Rajamouli hit the success formula.

There may be nothing much in the storyline and viewers need not use their intelligence to guess the next scene. However Rajamouli’s narration and script along with intelligent and extensive usage of graphics in Eega made movie lovers look in awe. Lack of comedy, romance may be drawbacks for the film but it was all forgotten by Eega’s breathtaking dances and superlative methods to seek revenge.

Technicals

Director Rajamouli should be lauded for thinking in a creative manner and become trendsetter breaking the shackles of sticking to top heroes. He made Eega a top hero which can challenge anyone. Keeravani’s background score is gripping while his tunes are mesmerizing. Editing by Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao is fine.

Highlight of the film is Senthil Kumar’s extraordinary cinematography giving the inside view of the world from the eyes of Eega to movie lovers. The locations and settings are beautiful and one will never blink an eyelid when the film is screening. Graphics in the movie is never experienced at such an extent in Telugu film industry and visuals simply stun all. Production values of Vaarahi Films are of high standards. Film makers showcased the true technical power of Telugu film proving that they too can spellbound all with graphics and visuals.

Final

Movie lovers must experience the Eega’s Empire.
