Interlocutors discuss ways to preserve pluralism in J&K

The role of arts in preserving pluralism in Jammu and Kashmir and mechanism to reduce impact of conflict on it was on Tuesday discussed by a panel of central government-appointed interlocutors during their meeting with the leaders and intellectuals here.
The two-day round table conference -- kick started on Monday by the three-member team comprising social activist Radha Kumar, former information commissioner M.M. Ansari and journalist Dilip Padgaonkar -- discussed plurality in the state, challenges to pluralism and political dimensions of multi-ethnicity in JK, officials present in the meeting said.
A document of recommendations based on inputs given by the participants will be formulated and submitted to the Centre, they said.
“We will have a document which gives a detailed account of what can be done (in J&K). This will be in the shape of recommendations that participants will make to the group of interlocutors...We will in turn forward these recommendations to the Government of India,” head of the panel Dileep Padgaonkar had said on Monday.
Over 50 people comprising eminent scholars, cultural personalities, religious leaders, academicians, journalists and members of civil society took part in the round table conference (RTC), the officials said.
The outcome of the RTC was excellent. There has been wide consensus on a large number of issues, Mr. Padgaonkar had said.
